PHOTO TONE
Mia Zabelka violin, e-violin, voice, electronic devices, alien objects, noise, visuals.
I have a vision of music that comes from an individual with a higher consciousness living in the multiverse. The concept of the multiverse and higher intelligences is a fascinating topic that is often covered in science fiction, philosophy and theoretical physics and inspires me in my artistic projects.
PHOTO TONE is about the magic of a sonic journey into the world of subatomic interactions. My aim is to explore the translation of chemical and structural processes into sounds and makes them perceptible in the audio field. Pictures and photos serve as scores. There are scientists who actually make the sounds of atoms audible. These sounds serve as inspiration for me and I also process them in my electroacoustic compositions. By improvising on the violin, I explore the microcosm of sounds, microtonality. The violin is probably the most suitable instrument for these investigations. I also approach the topic with intuition, in a process I call “sonic body impulses”. Compositional design is very important to me and the violin is of course still the main instrument. It is also about creating a unique, original musical language from the interaction of these components with the violin and the electronic sounds of the devices.
My sonic vision is to transport the listener into a fascinating technological world in which processes of modulation, elimination and the oscillation of elementary particles tell their own mysterious stories. Beyond melodies, harmonies and rhythm, the aim is to make automatic processes audible. With my compositions, I explore noise, movement, automation, division, symbiosis, dissonance and resonance. My artistic focus is the trans disciplinarity between music and science. The term “multiversal music” best describes my work. Multiversal music is the code of the future because it allows us to envision more advanced life forms. Referencing back to the category of imagination as a profoundly human force, I have the artistic vision, that the fundamental principles of the universe, encapsulated in the behavior of elementary particles, hold the key to future discoveries and the potential evolution of life. By understanding and "listening" to the music of these particles, we gain insights that could lead to significant advancements and a broader understanding of life's possibilities in the cosmos. This synthesis of music, science and imagination fosters a vision of a future shaped by our deepening understanding of the universe's most fundamental components. The intersection of parallel universes and higher consciousness merges scientific theory with artistic, mystical and philosophical ideas. While there's no empirical evidence for the existence of parallel universes or higher consciousness affecting them, it opens up fascinating possibilities for understanding reality, identity, and the nature of existence. The idea that some individuals might navigate these universes through heightened awareness adds a layer of depth to our exploration of the multiverse, making it a fascinating theme in both artistic imagination, scientific discourse and science fiction.
“Mia Zabelka does not regard science and technology as invasive threats to the human race, but instead perceives an agency that can help us find our way to new modes of expression. Further, she is not given to dreaming about fantastic travels into outer space, but is an artist very much connected to the modern world, and attuned to the environment.”
